Cooler temps, Ancient volcanos and Maritime Fun!

Our PCH Adventure Begins!
Leaving Los Angeles we cut across the Valley on the 101, then turn North to start our journey up the Pacific Coast Highway (PCH).
The PCH travels up the coast of California, Oregon and Washington. Technically it follows highway 1, but we alternated between 1 and 101 depending on conditions.
Morro Rock
Morro Bay is home of Morro Rock. Morro Rock is a 581 foot rock formed out of Magma from an ancient volcano, that used to be located near Palm Springs, California. The Volcano traveled 2 inches per year to reach its present resting place in Morro Bay. The outer shell has long eroded away, and left only the molten rock core behind.
Morro Rock Beach
Weather in Morro Bay is a welcomed 65 degrees. About 30 degree difference from the Inland Temps. The boys hit the beach and made the best of it despite the un-swimmable temps.
Downtown Morro Bay
On our only full day, we grabbed the scooters and hit the town. Morro Bay is an old and still operational fishing village. The main source of income seems to be from travelers or restaurants, given there are about 2 dozen restaurants within a half mile. We followed a nice path into town and explored.
Morro Bay Maritime Museum
Walking towards town, we discovered the Morro Bay Maritime Museum. Which is surprisingly well staffed with volunteers at 9:30 on Monday morning. A museum board member took us on a private tour.
Morro Dunes RV Park
Morro Dunes RV Park is 0.5 mile walking distance from down town and literally on Morro Rock Beach. Despite the spaces being close together, we were pleasantly surprised by the spot we got and views.
With a short stop at Morro Bay behind us, we head north up the PCH to San Francisco!
